How to Become a Pilot
Using All the Free Stuff You Can
How to become a pilot? The first thing you can do to help you learn to be a pilot is to utilize all of the free stuff available to you. Some of it, while free, should be purchased in the long run just because its easier to have an in hand copy to refer to.
There are a lot of great resources out there one of them being the FAA. Yes, the government has created some very good, useful, free stuff for you to use. Kind of an oxymoron but it is true. These resources can help you study for your tests and can make you a better pilot.
There are also some free electronic logbooks available. Most are just excel spreadsheets or some type of database and can be quite useful. I will post a version that I use online, however, keep in mind that for Sport Pilots, you must carry your logbook with you when you fly. Most pilots also use the logbook as a diary of flights and notes about them, so an electronic logbook may not be for you. You'll have to decide.
Checklists are another thing you may find on the internet that may fill another need. Many aircraft, especially smaller or older aircraft, don't have factory checklists. I would highly recommend you either find one for your needs or create one. A checklist is one of the most important items you should have in your aircraft. It can keep you from making serious mistakes.
